Position: Hourly Food Program Assistant Opportunity
Become a Food Program Assistant at Directions Youth Services in Vancouver, where you’ll create nutritional meals and support at-risk youth through our Food Pantry Program. This engaging hourly position balances culinary tasks with community impact.
Reporting directly to the Kitchen Supervisor, your responsibilities will include managing food donations, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and assisting volunteers. Your experience and creativity will be vital in fostering a welcoming environment and ensuring health and safety in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily kitchen operations and safety protocols
• Plan nutritious meals and prepare them for service
• Accurately track volunteer attendance and engagement
• Assist in sorting and storing food donations
• Facilitate the distribution of groceries to youth
Requirements:
• High school diploma with post-secondary education
• Food Safe certification is mandatory
• Two years in a commercial or community kitchen
• Experience working with youth in crisis
• Completion of a Criminal Record Check required
