Role Description The Food Pantry Manager is a full-time, on-site role responsible for overseeing daily operations of the food pantry. This role includes managing food inventory, ensuring safe food handling and storage, coordinating product distribution, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests. The Food Pantry Manager will supervise and schedule volunteers, provide training on pantry procedures and food safety, and support client intake to ensure positive and respectful service experiences. The role also involves collaborating with partners and donors, tracking metrics for reporting, and developing operational improvements that support the ministry’s mission of compassionate care and hope.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction, with the ability to serve guests with dignity and respect.
- Experience in Food Service and Food Safety, including knowledge of safe food handling, storage, and cleanliness standards.
- Familiarity with handling specific food categories such as Seafood or other perishable products in a pantry or food service environment.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate volunteers or staff, including scheduling, training, and team communication.
- Organizational and time-management skills for managing inventory, recordkeeping, and daily pantry operations.
- Comfort working in a faith-based environment aligned with The Well Outreach’s mission and values of compassion and care.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and communication; experience with inventory or nonprofit management systems is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience in food service, nonprofit work, or community outreach strongly preferred.
