Food Pantry Coordinator Jobs in Kansas City, Missouri, USA at The Salvation Army USA Central Territory

Job Objective: The Pantry Coordinator is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the food pantry.

Essential Functions:

Maintain the food pantry in all areas in accordance with Kansas Food Bank and The Salvation Army food handling policies.

Work with staff and volunteers to serve clients in a friendly and courteous manner.

Assist donors bringing in donations.

Assist clients carrying out items.

Keep communication open with all staff, supervisors, volunteers, and clients; assist with obtaining volunteers for food pantry, food drives, and other events.

Assist in helping with food drives, commodities, donations, etc.

Pick up store donations, weigh, and prepare them for the food pantry or breadline.

Maintain community agency referral list and refer clients as appropriate.

Maintain client files and fund balances in MAACLink database.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Food pantry or similar experience preferred.

Food Handlers’ Permit.

Skills/Abilities:

Serve people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Basic math skills.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements: Includes bending, squatting, standing for extended periods, walking up and down stairs multiple times daily, lifting, pulling, and pushing materials up to 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Travel: Local travel required.

Driving: Valid driver’s license required; approval through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program necessary.

Working Conditions: Work performed in pantry or donation receiving locations.
