Team: Director of Finance, Controller, Financial Analyst, Grants & Contracts Accountant, Tax & Treasury Specialist
Director of Finance
Reports to: COO
Purpose: Lead GSI’s financial strategy, reporting, and fiscal health across the organization.
Key Duties
● Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for GSI
● Ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance
● Guide financial strategy in coordination with the COO and leadership team
● Oversee grant, contract, and donor fund accounting practices
● Manage financial risk, treasury, and tax strategy
● Supervise and mentor the finance team
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA/MBA preferred)
● Extensive finance leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit or international organizations
● Strong knowledge of US nonprofit financial regulations and compliance
● Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States.
Controller
Purpose: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the integrity of GSI’s financial records.
Key Duties
● Manage accounting operations, ledgers, and month/year-end close processes
● Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
● Prepare and review financial statements and reports
● Oversee internal controls and audit readiness
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
● Experience in nonprofit accounting or controllership
● Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
● Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States
Financial Analyst
Purpose: Support financial planning and decision-making through analysis and reporting.
Key Duties
● Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budget variance reporting
● Support departmental budget planning across GSI
● Prepare financial models and reports for leadership
● Track program and organizational spending against budget
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
● Strong analytical and Excel/financial modeling skills
● Experience in financial analysis, ideally nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
● Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States
Grants & Contracts Accountant
Purpose: Manage the financial administration of GSI’s grants and contracts.
Key Duties
● Track and manage grant and contract budgets and expenditures
● Ensure compliance with funder financial reporting requirements
● Prepare financial reports for grants and donor-funded projects
● Coordinate with Partnerships and Grant Writers on budget alignment
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
● Experience with grant/contract accounting, ideally in nonprofit settings
● Detail-oriented with strong compliance knowledge
● Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States
Tax & Treasury Specialist
Purpose: Manage GSI’s tax compliance and treasury/cash management functions.
Key Duties
● Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local tax requirements for nonprofits
● Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury operations
● Prepare tax filings (e.g., Form 990) and related documentation
● Monitor financial regulations affecting nonprofit tax status
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
● Experience in tax compliance and/or treasury management; nonprofit experience a plus
● Strong knowledge of US nonprofit tax regulations
● Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States
Pay: $28.76 – $34.64 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 per week
