The Finance Director plays a critical role in managing the campaign’s fundraising operations. They are responsible for developing and executing the campaign’s fundraising plan, managing the finance team, and working closely with the candidate, campaign manager, and other staff to ensure fundraising goals are met. The Finance Director oversees donor relationships, implements fundraising strategies, organizes events, and monitors campaign finances to ensure the campaign has the resources needed to win.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced with NGP and Act Blue, and has at least one full cycle of strong finance experience as a Finance Director, Finance Assistant, or Call Time Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Campaign Manager. Monitor fundraising progress, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure the financial needs of the campaign are met.
Own fundraising projections and cash flow in conjunction with the Campaign Manager.
Manage and staff all aspects of the call time program with the candidate, including donor prospecting, building call time lists, staffing call time, sending follow-up communications, tracking pledges, recording data, and running a donor acknowledgement program.
Oversee the expansion of existing donor databases by identifying, researching, and recruiting new donors. Manage processes for new donor research/outreach and existing donor engagement.
Develop and execute candidate email fundraising program, including content drafting, list management and acquisition, and scheduling.
Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events. Ensure seamless event logistics, engaging programming, and meaningful donor interactions.
Track donor data and other finance metrics; ensure accurate reporting.
Coordinate scheduling and logistics for fundraising activities.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting in coordination with the compliance team.
Create and maintain strong working relationships with staff, the Virginia Democratic Party, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus, campaign partners, and stakeholders.
Maintain a flexible campaign schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and travel.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
1-2 cycles of experience in political fundraising and campaigns, with a strong track record of success; with at least one cycle of experience in call time management.
Proficient knowledge of NGP, Act Blue, Google Workspace, Excel, call time programs, and other campaign finance software.
Highly organized, detail-oriented team player, with excellent time management skills.
Excitement to create and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and campaign staff

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Team player with a positive attitude who can motivate others
Possess a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and reliable access to a vehicle.
Access to a smartphone and laptop
Willingness to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends (as needed)
Willingness to move to district and travel throughout district, as needed
Commitment to winning and retaining a Democratic majority in the Virginia House of Delegates
Ties to Virginia and/or the district are welcomed, but not required
