Position: Field Intern – Voting Rights – Miami-Dade

The ACLU of Florida’s internship program seeks to develop the next generation of leaders who dare to create a more perfect union. The ACLU-FL has been the state’s premier guardian of liberty, working in the Courts, at the Capitol, and in communities to defend and expand the civil liberties and civil rights of all Floridians. We are nonprofit and nonpartisan.
As an affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, we are part of a national organization that is 1.8 million members strong. Whether it’s protecting reproductive rights, fighting for immigrant justice, achieving full equality for the LGBTQ community, advancing racial justice, or preserving the right to vote, the ACLU and ACLU-FL take up the toughest cases and issues to defend against government abuse and overreach.
The ACLU fights tirelessly in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C., for the principle that every individual’s rights must be protected equally under the law, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, national origin, and record of arrest or conviction.

Exposure: Engage with the issues and the people at the forefront of today’s most impactful civil liberties and civil rights fights and victories.
Experience: Contribute to meaningful work in our Field Department while developing substantive skills and professional experience.
Mentorship: Learn from ACLU of FL employees on a range of topics through trainings and on-the-job learning.
WHO MAY BE A GOOD FIT FOR AN INTERNSHIP WITH THE ACLU-FL
You would be a great fit for an internship with the ACLU-FL if you are:
Passionate about civil liberties and eager to learn
Professional and display a high level of empathy
Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse communities and audiences
Highly organized, diligent, and attentive to detail
INTERNSHIP DETAILS
Time Commitment: The internship requires a part-time commitment of 20 hours per week.
Internship Timeline: April 1st – June 27th
Compensation: $15 per hour for those students who do not receive course credit. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
Additional Information: Interns will be reimbursed for any mileage incurred for pre-approved travel.
