Farm Fresh RI Community Education Summer DSM
Farm Fresh RI’s Summer Ameri Corps members provide food literacy education to Rhode Island residents through public libraries, summer camp, and farmers markets with team members and/or volunteers. The Summer Ameri Corps Member will focus on promoting locally grown food using hands-on learning, cooking demonstrations, and movement activities. While most of the participants will be children, programs have the capacity to reach adults depending on site requests.
The number of participants and frequency of programs varies based on needs and interest. Community Education provides participants with local food connections through programming and continuous improvement of our materials. This is core to the role as well as interacting with people of a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Member Duties:
Lead or support up to 15 or more educational programs at farmers markets and community libraries, as well as support peers in their summer camp programming as necessary.
Prepare lesson plans, materials, and food for scheduled programs; including management of materials/supplies by purchasing, creating, printing, cooking, as needed.
Participate in program performance measurement process through the administration of pre and post surveys to program participants, if applicable.
Collect quality data regarding the effectiveness of program activities and conduct data entry weekly.
Comply with department and organizational Standard Operating Procedures in safe food handling, supply purchasing, and mileage reimbursement.
Submit weekly timesheet reports via America Learns online reporting portal.
Complete weekly and monthly data reports on program activities for Ameri Corps and grant activities.
