Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising daily operations and managing all tasks associated with the volunteer program, daily animal care management, nutrition and medical administration, and equipment cleaning/storage. The ACM plays a key role in ensuring that the organization’s standards of excellence are met.

Train and oversee volunteers performing feeding, cleaning, and maintenance of resident living areas.

Create additional tasks for volunteers.

Conduct daily health checks on all animals.

Provide supplements, medications, injections, etc., as needed.

Inform the Operations Manager/Executive Director of any health issues with the animals.

Update training manuals regularly.

Ensure regular removal of garbage and compost in accordance with organization’s procedures.

Oversee cleaning, maintenance, and proper storage of sanctuary equipment.

Volunteer Management And Intern Program Management

Work closely with the operations manager/sanctuary generalist to assess needs for volunteer expertise and staffing levels.

Maintain processes to match volunteers with appropriate activities.

Provide accurate and timely volunteer data.

Engage with existing volunteers daily, providing feedback and guidance.

Maintain ongoing communication with volunteers.

Manage volunteer recognition programs, collaborate with department leaders, and plan volunteer appreciation and training activities.

Identify high-profile volunteers and train them as shift supervisors.

Manage electronic messaging communications with volunteers, including the internal application.

Implement comprehensive orientation for new interns.

Engage in ongoing feedback and complete school evaluations as required.

Property And Building Management

Ensure all buildings are maintained and cleaned.

Manage repairs of buildings, fencing, and property with handyperson volunteers.

Monitor electric and heat usage, conserving resources.

Maintain the cleanliness of the property.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 – $42,500 per year based on experience.

Schedule: 9-5:30 (9-5 in winter), Wednesday – Sunday, including holidays.

Benefits: Employee discount and 10 days paid time off (PTO).

Experience: Management: 2 years preferred;
Large Animal Care: 2 years preferred.

Important Notes

We are a non-profit organization.

Open 365 days a year.

Experience is required; please do not apply if you lack experience.

Work on holidays if scheduled; use PTO if unavailable.

Full-time position with weekend work required.

Reliable attendance is essential; call-outs impact the team.

No current health insurance or retirement benefits, but plans are in progress for late 2025/early 2026.
