Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization that aims to serve child victims of abuse and their non-offending family member.
This position covers a Tri-County area- McPherson, Harvey and Marion Counties. This position has office space that is located physically in McPherson and Newton. Time will be split between the 2 offices dependent on needs/cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist families during their initial visit to the Child Advocacy Center:
To reduce the trauma associated with the disclosure of child abuse by providing crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling, ongoing emotional support, information/referral services, and advocacy for child victims and their non-offending family members and caregivers.
After the parents/caregivers have met with investigators, meet with them to share brochures, information about community resources, and provide information about the Kansas Victim Compensation Fund and Victim Rights.
Ensure that referrals are made to mental health providers and medical health providers and other appropriate support groups.
Determine whether the family will be working with DCF or Law Enforcement or both; provide additional services on third-party or out of area cases where there isn’t a caseworker assigned.
When needed, assist in securing concrete supports or make referrals to specific partner agencies for housing, protective orders, food, transportation, public assistance, emergency awards, etc.
Provide court advocacy for children and families including attending court as a support for the child victim and family. Testify in court when required.
Assist and ensure that families are being updated on the status of the investigation & provision of support throughout the investigative and court process.
Collaborate with a rockstar team of therapists, school professionals, county attorneys, law enforcement, medical staff, and other professionals.
Record keeping
Readily work cooperatively with other employees, volunteers, partner agencies, practicum students and the general public in a professional manner. Able to work well with diverse populations.
Your Superpowers Include:
A degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field (or equivalent experience and passion).
Experience in child welfare, crisis support, or advocacy preferred.
Emotional intelligence, resilience, and a sense of humor (essential).
Ability to keep calm in chaos—and to know when to step in and when to just listen.
