Position: Facilities Maintenance Technician

About Us: Kama‘aina Kids is a non-profit organization committed to providing quality childcare services to children and their families. Our offerings include preschool programs, before and afterschool care, day camps, environmental education, and enrichment activities.

Role Overview: We are looking for a skilled and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and repair of our various locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated environments such as schools or hospitals and be a versatile handyman. This role involves hands-on maintenance, assisting with minor remodeling projects, and ensuring our facilities meet all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and furniture assembly and repair tasks.
Maintain all facilities to ensure they are up to code and in excellent condition.
Address and resolve maintenance and repair requests promptly.
Assist in developing and executing preventive maintenance plans to minimize disruptions.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth facility operations.
Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
Manage emergencies calmly and efficiently.
Complete projects within set timelines.
Represent Kama’aina Kids with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in regulated environments like schools or hospitals.
Knowledge of construction, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Experience with electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC systems; certifications are a plus.
Ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repair work.
Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, twisting, and bending.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work around preschool children and staff.
Clean driving record.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn childcare facility regulations and safety standards.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
