Overview

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to oversee maintenance and facility operations for agency-owned, leased, and operated properties. This leadership role coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supervises maintenance staff and contractors, and helps ensure all facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have experience in facilities, property, or construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for agency facilities, housing units, shelters, offices, and related properties.
  • Develop and manage systems for reporting, tracking, and resolving maintenance requests and facility concerns.
  • Conduct facility inspections and ensure completed work meets agency standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate repair projects, obtain bids, and make recommendations regarding facility improvements and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and related documentation.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and contracted service providers, ensuring quality work and productivity.
  • Recruit, train, assign, and evaluate maintenance personnel while providing coaching and leadership.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local housing and property regulations, including NSPIRE standards.
  • Coordinate with agency leadership and the Safety and Security Committee to promote safe and secure facilities.
  • Respond to facility emergencies, alarm calls, and urgent maintenance issues as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining security camera systems to ensure proper functionality and recording capabilities.
  • Promote positive relationships with tenants, contractors, staff, and community partners.

Experience

  • Three years of experience in facilities management, property management, construction management, community housing development, or a related field preferred.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing employees, contractors, or maintenance teams strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance practices, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building repairs.
  • Experience with carpentry, residential construction, building inspections, or related trades is desirable.
  • Knowledge of property inspections, housing regulations, and NSPIRE standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, scheduling tools, and electronic recordkeeping systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, Building Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to obtain NSPIRE Inspection Certification and Lead-Based Paint Safe Practices Training Certification.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, health assessments, and drug screening.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
