At Covenant Community Care, we are a faith based non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center serving the communities of Detroit in our clinics that offer integrated medical, dental and counseling healthcare services. We have an immediate opening for a Full-time External Relations Manager.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The External Relations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing Covenant Community Care’s strategic initiatives related to community engagement, external partnerships, fundraising, communications, and advocacy. This role is vital in positioning Covenant Community Care as a reliable partner to our community while ensuring compliance with federal funding requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Relations & Partner Development
Act as liaison for key stakeholders and create plans to connect Covenant with broader community initiatives throughout our service area.
Participate in strategic local and statewide coalitions and cohorts that align with Covenant’s strategic initiatives.
Work with Covenant’s Community Health Workers (and other relevant staff) to develop patient and community-oriented engagement opportunities.
Work with staff to provide oversight and strategy development for Covenant’s annual National Health Center Week activities.
Fundraising & Development
Develop and execute a strategic plan for fundraising initiatives, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and annual campaigns.
Oversee the execution of Covenant’s annual Courage to Care fundraiser.
Grow relationships with existing foundation partners and submit grant applications aligned with Covenant’s organizational goals.
Maintain compliance with IRS, federal, and state regulations related to fundraising.
Grant & Funding Compliance Oversight
Write and ensure timely submission of Covenant’s annual federal grant application
Write and ensure timely submission of Supplemental Funding applications as needed: New Access Points, Service Expansions
Work with Executive Assistant to ensure grant progress reports and other HRSA requests are submitted.
Serve as lead for all federal government grants management and new applications.
Communications & Marketing
Serve as point-person for Covenant’s marketing and communications vendor and coordinate:
The provision of high-quality, consistent content for social media, website, newsletters, annual reports, etc.
Integrity and consistency of organization brand across all means of communication
Work with Covenant’s leadership team to ensure marketing efforts align with strategic goals.
Provide oversight for the maintenance of Covenant’s website
Policy & Advocacy
Develop and maintain relationships with Covenant’s elected officials and staffers on the local, state, and federal level, including scheduling tours and identifying opportunities for partnership
At the direction of Senior Leadership, participate in advocacy campaigns led by Covenant’s advocacy partners, including the Michigan Primary Care Association, the National Association of Community Health Centers, and others
Assist Covenant with becoming a NACHC Advocacy Center of Excellence and maintaining that designation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Proven ability to write, compose, and present to public audiences at all levels of the community
An appreciation for and an ability to successfully articulate the unique and focused mission of Covenant Community Care
Job Type: Full-time 40 hours/week
