Position Overview
A large and growing nonprofit health system is seeking a strategic, experienced, and operationally savvy Executive Director of Development to join its senior leadership team. This is a high-impact role responsible for overseeing critical support functions within the development organization, including operations, events, communications, prospect management, and strategic planning.
This position is a key member of the Development Executive Leadership Team and will work closely with executive leadership across the system to align development operations with institutional priorities and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership for approximately 40% of the Development staff across Operations, Events, Communications, and Prospect Management.
Develop and execute strategies that support the organization’s fundraising goals, team effectiveness, and cross-functional alignment.
Lead goal setting, performance tracking, and data reporting processes across the development department.
Oversee and optimize the CRM system (Raiser’s Edge NXT), reporting dashboards, and analytics capabilities.
Ensure regulatory and policy compliance across all philanthropic operations, working closely with Legal and Finance departments.
Lead integration and philanthropic implementation for newly acquired hospital entities within the system.
Provide strategic counsel to the CDO and Development leadership on operational effectiveness and performance outcomes.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and equity across the Development team.
Manage a high-performing team of 20+ professionals, focusing on talent development, mentorship, and team structure.
Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years of operations and development experience within complex, matrixed organizations.
At least 10 years of leadership experience overseeing operational and performance functions within a fundraising or nonprofit environment.
Demonstrated success in building infrastructure, managing data systems, and leading high-performing teams.
Strong financial, analytical, and project management skills.
Experience managing large-scale projects, integrating new systems or teams, and driving organizational change.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
