About Chicago Community Sculling:
Chicago Community Sculling (CCS) is a nonprofit rowing organization dedicated to making sculling accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels. Our mission is to foster a supportive and inclusive rowing community while promoting excellence in the sport. We provide coaching, equipment, and training opportunities to both recreational and competitive rowers.
Position Overview:
CCS is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director & Rowing Coach to lead the organization’s operations, development, and coaching programs. This dual role requires a passionate leader who can drive the mission of CCS forward, cultivate community engagement, manage administrative functions, and deliver high-quality coaching to our athletes. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, fundraising, and coaching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Organizational Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of CCS, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
Develop and implement policies, programs, and initiatives to expand the reach and impact of CCS.
Manage finances, including budgeting, grant applications, and financial reporting.
Cultivate partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote rowing accessibility.
Lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts, including events, sponsorships, and grant writing.
Supervise and support staff, volunteers, and contracted coaches.
Coaching & Program Development:
Design and lead structured rowing programs for athletes of various experience levels, from beginners to competitive rowers.
Provide technical coaching and individualized training plans to improve athletes’ performance.
Ensure the safety of all rowers by enforcing best practices in water and equipment safety.
Maintain rowing equipment and facilities, coordinating necessary repairs and upgrades.
Organize and oversee training camps, regattas, and other rowing events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Experience in rowing coaching, with a strong background in sculling.
Proven leadership and management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or sports organization.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred:
USRowing Level 2 (or higher) Coaching Certification.
Experience managing budgets, fundraising, and grant writing.
Knowledge of rowing equipment maintenance.
