The Georgia Psychological Association (GPA) represents the profession of psychology in the State of Georgia. Besides sponsoring a variety of continuing education workshops culminating in the Annual Meeting, GPA is constantly acting to expand the parameters of psychology in our State and to increase the quality of service to the communities in which psychologists live and work. Our growing numbers of dedicated volunteers serve on committees and boards which are the heart and soul of GPA.

Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of the GPA, overseeing daily operations, advancing the organization’s mission, and ensuring strategic goals are met. The ED acts as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, members, and external stakeholders while leading advocacy efforts, enhancing member services, and managing all association activities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with GPA’s mission.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors on priorities, policies, and long-term planning.
Foster a collaborative and effective organizational culture.
Ensure compliance with bylaws, professional standards, and governance best practices.
Support board meetings, leadership onboarding, and succession planning.
Operations & Financial Oversight
Oversee day-to-day operations, staff management, and professional development.
Develop and manage the association’s budget, ensuring financial stability.
Maintain records, systems, and organizational processes for efficiency.
Lead fundraising efforts, sponsor ships, and revenue-generating initiatives.
Advocacy & External Relations
Guide legislative advocacy efforts and engage members in policy discussions.
Maintain relationships with government agencies, professional organizations, and key stakeholders.
Represent GPA at public events, legislative hearings, and professional conferences.
Member Engagement & Services
Enhance and promote membership programs, recruitment, and retention strategies.
Oversee professional development events, including conferences and webinars.
Ensure timely communication of opportunities, resources, and updates to members.
Communications & Marketing
Oversee marketing, website content, and social media presence to promote GPA initiatives.
Ensure clear, consistent communication with members and external partners.

Required:
Master’s degree or higher in psychology, business, nonprofit management, or related field.
Strong financial management, advocacy, marketing, and strategic planning skills.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership abilities.
Preferred:
3 – 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit management.
Experience in association management, particularly in health or behavioral sciences.
Familiarity with nonprofit governance, fundraising, and digital communication tools.
