Wello is entering an exciting new chapter and seeks an Executive Director who can build on this strong foundation while leading the organization into its next phase of growth and impact.
The Opportunity
The Executive Director serves as Wello’s chief executive and provides overall leadership for the organization’s strategy, people, finances, fundraising, partnerships, and operations.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, funders, community partners, and other stakeholders, the Executive Director will ensure Wello remains financially sustainable, strategically focused, operationally strong, and connected to the community it serves.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and visionary leader who can balance big-picture strategy with effective execution, build strong relationships, and bring people together around meaningful community change.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
- Partner with the Board to establish and advance Wello’s strategic direction and long-term vision.
- Translate strategy into clear priorities, goals, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead Wello’s next phase of organizational growth while maintaining a strong focus on mission and community impact.
- Assess emerging community needs and opportunities and align programs, partnerships, and resources accordingly.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Community Leadership & Partnerships
- Serve as Wello’s primary ambassador and spokesperson.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, businesses, government, foundations, nonprofits, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Develop partnerships and coalitions that advance Wello’s mission and expand its impact.
- Strengthen Wello’s position as a trusted convener, collaborator, and leader in community well-being.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship
- Lead Wello’s fundraising and resource-development strategy.
- Develop relationships with foundations, corporations, major donors, government entities, and other funding partners.
- Diversify Wello’s funding base and establish sustainable revenue goals.
- Maintain responsibility for financial health, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls, reporting, compliance, and fiduciary practices.
Staff & Organizational Culture
- Lead, develop, and support Wello’s staff while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Build organizational capacity through effective people, systems, and resource alignment.
- Recruit, retain, and develop talented staff.
Board Partnership & Governance
- Maintain a strong, transparent, and productive relationship with the Board.
- Provide the Board with timely information and perspective to support effective governance and decision-making.
- Partner with the Board on strategy, organizational performance, fundraising, risk, and long-term sustainability.
- Maintain a clear distinction between Board governance and organizational management.

- Build a strong and sustainable organization with the people, culture, systems, and resources needed for continued growth and impact.
- Demonstrate meaningful community outcomes while maintaining strong relationships and alignment among the Board, staff, partners, funders, and community.
The Ideal Candidate
Wello recognizes that strong leaders come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. We are seeking demonstrated leadership capabilities rather than a specific career path or degree. A bachelor’s degree and significant professional leadership experience are preferred, though an advanced degree is not required.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, business, public-sector, philanthropic, or community-focused organization.
- Strong strategic, financial, and organizational leadership skills.
- Experience building relationships, partnerships, and sustainable sources of revenue.
- A track record of developing and motivating teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence.
- The ability to navigate complex issues and bring people together across diverse perspectives.
- A genuine commitment to community well-being, collaboration, and systems-level change.
- The ability to balance long-term vision with practical execution.

Pay: $115,000.00 – $155,000.00 per year
