Will Trippley Foundation (WTF) Executive Director Position
Based in Chester, Pennsylvania, the Will Trippley Foundation empowers grieving children and their families to find strength, healing, and hope after the loss of a loved one. We guide families on their journey to rebuild and thrive by providing compassionate community support and essential resources at no cost. Our mission is to foster resilience and growth, helping families live fulfilling lives beyond loss.
The Foundation honors the life and legacy of Will Trippley. A full scholarship athlete, a devoted son, and a remarkable friend, Will lost his life to gun violence on Easter 2004. Full of grief yet determined, his mother, Patricia, with the help of Will’s friends, launched the William Trippley Youth Development Foundation to change the narrative for the next generation of children and their families in Chester.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for executing WFT’s mission. The Executive Director will represent the organization to the public, lead organizational development and strategic planning, oversee program delivery, build donor relationships, and manage staff.
Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Operations Management
Oversee the organization’s daily operations and programs, providing executive direction for program strategy and efficiency and ensuring that programs and services contribute to the mission and reflect the priorities of the Board.
Monitor and track program outcomes.
Engage with the community to shape and participate in the programs and goals of the organization.
Work closely with the Board, providing regular program updates, assessing and addressing issues that affect The Trippley Foundation, and disseminating information between staff and the Board.
Recruit, select, and retain staff and volunteers with the skills and abilities to help further the organization’s mission.
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations to create a stronger brand in and around Chester and Delaware County.
Ensure that The Trippley Foundation complies with all laws and regulations.
Financial Management
Prepare annual operating budget and present it to the Board for approval ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the organization in a favorable financial position.
Develop and maintain processes for proper recordkeeping and financial controls.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements following organization and board-required reporting needs, including monthly statements showing budget-to-actual income and expenses, monthly balance sheets, and monthly cash flow statements.
Development and Fundraising
In partnership with the Board, research funding sources and oversee the development of actionable fundraising plans that secure support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government funding sources.
Supervise grants management, including research, submission, acknowledgment, tracking, and reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate database management of donors, prospects, and gift acknowledgments.
Develop, lead, and/or oversee key fundraising activities.
Community Relations/Advocacy
Serve as the community representative of the foundation to ensure that the mission, programs, and services are presented positively and consistently.
Create and execute strategies to educate the public about the organization.
Pursue, maintain, and build constructive working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, organizations, and key stakeholders.
Supervise production and distribution of all promotional materials and maintain the organization’s website and other social media platforms.
Promote the organization by attending relevant community events.
Qualifications
The ED will be thoroughly committed to the WFT mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
Specific requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree. Master’s preferred.
A minimum of five years of leadership experience at a non-profit organization.
Strong non-profit financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, and reporting.
Proven ability to shape and execute an organization’s strategy and successfully expand its reach and impact in partnership with an engaged board of directors.
An understanding of grief counseling and trauma-informed programming.
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
