About the Role
The Company is in search of an Executive Director (ED) to lead its mission of advancing the scientific study of sexuality. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, leadership, and community building, with a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This role involves expanding the organization’s membership and partnerships, particularly with a focus on bringing science-based information to a global audience of educators, advocates, health professionals, and policymakers.
The ED will also be tasked with expanding fundraising capabilities, including exploring international partnerships and grant opportunities, and ensuring representation and support for underrepresented groups within the organization. The ideal ED for the company will have a background in a relevant field, such as social sciences, public health, or education, and a deep commitment to the values of the organization.
Key skills include the ability to translate strategic initiatives into actionable steps, a proven track record in leadership and management, and a strong network within the academic and professional communities. The role requires a candidate who can work collaboratively with a diverse set of stakeholders, including a 11-member Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and members. Experience in fostering a culture of inclusivity, and a justice lens, and a commitment to the principles of freedom of inquiry and the reduction of ignorance and prejudice about sexuality are essential.
The ED will also be responsible for ensuring a smooth leadership transition and for the upcoming conference, which is a major event for the organization.
