About This Role
The Saskatchewan Indigenous Community Foundation (SICF) is seeking its first Executive Director to lead the organization into its next stage of growth and impact.
SICF has completed its foundational year and established a five-year strategic plan. Governance structures, financial policies, and operational frameworks are in place. Early partnerships are forming, and the vision is clear.
The Executive Director will build on this strong foundation – operationalizing strategy, strengthening systems and infrastructure, deepening partnerships, and growing the organization in alignment with Indigenous values and long-term responsibility.
A key part of this role will be helping SICF expand its philanthropic partnerships and resource base, ensuring the Foundation has the resources required to support Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan for generations to come.
This is a builder role with a defined direction.
Who We Are Looking For
SICF, whose Board is made up of Indigenous Peoples from our lands, is seeking an Executive Director who leads with integrity, humility, and a deep commitment to Indigenous communities and collective wellbeing.
We are intentionally centering leadership characteristics , relational capacity , and lived experience alongside the skills required to steward an Indigenous-led organization.
We welcome candidates whose leadership journeys may come from community, governance, nonprofit leadership, grassroots organizing, public service, or adjacent sectors.
We are seeking a leader who is energized by building – someone who is comfortable growing partnerships, strengthening resources, and helping scale a young foundation into a permanent Indigenous-led foundation serving communities across Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate will bring the ability to hold both structure and possibility: stewarding what has already been built while helping the Foundation grow thoughtfully, responsibly, and in alignment with Indigenous values and community priorities.
The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate
Community & Values Alignment
A deep understanding of Indigenous realities, community-led approaches, and the importance of self-determination
Lived experience, cultural grounding, or long-standing relational accountability to Indigenous communities
A leadership style that honours protocol, consent, and care
Leadership & Relational Capacity
A grounded, values-based leadership approach rooted in respect, reciprocity, and accountability
Strong relational skills and the ability to build trust with Indigenous communities, partners, and funders
Confidence representing the Foundation publicly and speaking to Indigenous-led philanthropy in provincial and national spaces
Comfort leading within a growing organization and strengthening systems while advancing a clear strategic direction
Ability to build strong relationships with philanthropic partners, donors, and funding institutions, helping grow the Foundation’s resources while maintaining community accountability and Indigenous values
Stewardship & Strategic Readiness
Experience in philanthropy is not required. We are seeking a leader with the capacity and commitment to learn this work while remaining grounded in Indigenous values and community accountability.
Experience working within environments where resources, relationships, and community priorities intersect, or readiness to grow into this work
Understanding of, or willingness to develop fluency in fiduciary responsibility, ensuring that funds are managed with care, transparency, and accountability
Understanding of, or willingness to develop experience in philanthropic fundraising, donor stewardship, and partnership development
Ability to navigate power dynamics in funding and partnership relationships while centering community priorities
Comfort translating strategic priorities into operational action
