Organizational Overview: The Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA) is a nonprofit children’s theater dedicated to inspiring creativity, confidence, and community through performance arts. We provide theater education, workshops, and productions for youth in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Our mission is to educate through the arts by creating theatrical experiences that inspire thought, action, creativity, and change. CCTA is dedicated to making these experiences available and accessible to as many members of the community as possible with an emphasis on teaching and nurturing our children regardless of gender, race, religion, ability, age, or socioeconomic status.

Position Summary: The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive officer responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of CCTA. Working closely with the Board of Directors and artistic staff, the ED ensures the organization’s financial health, operational excellence, and mission fulfillment, fostering an environment where young people can thrive through the arts.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization.

Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board.

Promote a culture of inclusivity and creativity.

Operations Management

Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, programming, and facilities.

Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and reporting obligations.

Manage contracts, insurance, and risk management.

Fundraising and Financial Oversight

Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and events.

Develop and oversee annual budgets and financial reports.

Build strong relationships with donors, foundations, and community partners.

Marketing and Community Engagement

Guide marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives to grow audience and support.

Represent the theater group at public events, performances, and meetings.

Develop partnerships with schools, arts organizations, and community groups.

Program Support

Collaborate with the Artistic Director and program staff to support the creative vision.

Ensure programming aligns with the mission and maintains artistic excellence.

Support safe, inclusive, and educational experiences for all participants.

Board Relations

Serve as a key liaison to the Board of Directors.

Support Board development, including recruitment, training, and engagement.

Prepare timely reports and updates for Board meetings

Qualifications:

Required

Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, education, or a related field.

Strong fundraising, financial management, and operational skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.

Passion for youth development, theater, and community engagement.

Qualifications: Preferred

Experience in children’s theater, performing arts, or arts education.

Grant writing and event planning experience.

Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, education, theater, or related field or equivalent experience.

Compensation:

$60,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience.
