Role Description
The Executive Director, Project Operations provides executive leadership for the planning, coordination, and delivery of Active Leaders of Love’s strategic projects and community initiatives. Working closely with the CEO, this role is responsible for translating organizational vision into action by leading cross-functional teams, driving project execution, strengthening accountability, and ensuring initiatives progress efficiently from planning through implementation. The Executive Director serves as the operational lead for the organization’s flagship projects, ensuring people, priorities, timelines, and resources remain aligned while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Project Leadership
- Lead the operational execution of major organizational projects from planning through implementation.
- Develop project roadmaps, implementation plans, milestones, and success measures.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with organizational priorities and intended community outcomes.
- Monitor progress and proactively address risks, bottlenecks, and resource needs.
- Maintain momentum across multiple workstreams and initiatives.
People Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to project managers, coordinators, and volunteer teams.
- Foster collaboration across Communications, Research, Community Engagement, Partnerships, and other functional areas.
- Support managers in setting priorities, resolving challenges, and achieving deliverables.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Program & Project Delivery
- Oversee the day-to-day implementation of Active Leaders of Love’s flagship initiatives.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, with quality, and in alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate cross-functional planning and execution activities.
- Establish operational systems that improve efficiency, communication, and project performance.
Strategic Execution
- Partner with the CEO to translate organizational strategy into executable action plans.
- Recommend operational improvements that strengthen project delivery and organizational effectiveness.
- Prepare regular project updates, progress reports, and implementation recommendations.
- Support organizational growth by strengthening project management practices and execution capacity.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in project management, program management, project delivery, or strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams through complex projects.
- Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
- Proven ability to translate strategy into measurable execution.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience within nonprofit, public sector, community development, healthcare, education, or mission-driven organizations is an asset.
- Experience leading volunteer teams is considered an asset.

Time Commitment
Volunteer leadership role requiring approximately 7–10 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project priorities. During project launches, grant cycles, and major organizational milestones, additional availability may occasionally be required.
