The Organization:
Memphis River Parks Partnership is a nonprofit organization that works with and for the people of Memphis to trigger the transformative power of our river. We develop, manage, maintain, and activate five miles of riverfront. We lead capital projects, foster park stewardship and develop innovative programs in pursuit of a “riverfront for everyone.” We believe strongly that a better Memphis begins at the riverfront.
The Position:
Reporting to the Director of Riverfront Properties, the Event Specialist provides operational and communications support to ensure the successful coordination and execution of events and programs across the riverfront parks. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Event Execution:
• Assist in the coordination and execution of events, programs and community engagement activities.
• Conduct pre-event and post-event walkthroughs using standardized checklists to ensure venue readiness and compliance.
• Oversee load-in and load-out processes, coordinating with vendors, clients, security and staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide on-site event support, including troubleshooting. Attendance at all assigned events is required.
• Ensure that documentation is taken in both written and photo form of any concerns or any damage occurring before, during or after an event.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in event coordination, hospitality, customer service, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and resolving issues on the spot.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and available for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic photography skills and attention to detail in visual documentation.
• Physical ability to assist with event setup and breakdown, lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Hourly rate of $18–$20, based on experience.
