About the Role
We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to lead sales and operations for a premier 30,000 sq. ft. event venue in Washington, DC. This space hosts up to 500 guests and includes an atrium, multiple conference rooms, and two newly renovated lobbies. You’ll be responsible for driving revenue, managing client relationships, overseeing event execution, and maintaining the venue’s reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
Develop and execute a comprehensive annual marketing and sales strategy aligned with business goals.
Manage the marketing budget and ensure effective use of digital platforms (social media, website, aggregators).
Create compelling marketing collateral and messaging to attract corporate, social, nonprofit, and trade show clients.
Build and maintain relationships with local tourism bureaus, destination management companies, and business leaders.
Event Management
Handle client inquiries, conduct venue tours (including evenings/weekends), and manage contracts and payments.
Oversee vendor relationships, including agreements, insurance, and commission tracking.
Coordinate logistics with internal teams (property management, janitorial, security, parking).
Act as on-site event manager during events, including evenings and weekends.
Ensure compliance with city permit requirements and maintain venue technology and amenities.
Monitor financial performance, manage the operating budget, and forecast sales.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the Event Specialist, providing guidance and support.
Align team performance with client goals and Client Experience Management standards.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Proven experience in event planning and marketing.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Creative problem-solving and independent decision-making.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iOS, and marketing/design software.
Professional demeanor with a client-first mindset.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
3–5 years in hotel, catering, or event sales and marketing (hospitality industry preferred).
Alternatively, 7+ years of experience as an event planner.
Deep knowledge of the local event landscape, including venues, vendors, and trends.
