Overview

The Event Coordinator is responsible for organising and managing a portfolio of peer‑to‑peer fundraising events, including Parkinson Canada Super Walk, Super Mom Walk/Run, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Growling Beaver, and Fundraising Your Way. The role involves overseeing all logistical aspects, building relationships with participants, donors, sponsors and volunteers, and ensuring that financial targets are met.

What You’ll Be Doing Fundraising through Participant, Donor, and Sponsor Engagement

  • Build and nurture relationships with participants, donors and sponsors, ensuring they feel valued and engaged with Parkinson Canada’s mission.
  • Manage all points of the event cycle for a portfolio of top fundraisers and team captains, from recruitment to goal setting, fundraising coaching and impact communication.
  • Handle participant and donor inquiries and ensure timely and accurate communication before, during and after events.
  • Identify and solicit potential sponsors to provide financial or in‑kind support.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify high‑capacity event participants and donors.
  • Work with the Events team to leverage the Convio Luminate and Team Raiser platform for optimum fundraiser stewardship and implement best practices.

Event Planning and Management

  • Execute a portfolio of Super Walk, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Growling Beaver and Fundraising Your Way events across Canada.
  • Implement a strategic plan for each event each year.
  • Collaborate with event and marketing teams to promote local events through materials, emails, social media and paid media.
  • Maintain local event pages, updating route maps, sponsor logos and event day agendas.
  • Lead volunteers and committees as required, supported by Volunteer Coordinators.
  • Manage local vendors and supporter relationships.
  • Organise and lead face‑to‑face meetings and monthly conference calls with volunteer event coordinators.
  • Build capacity by delivering volunteer training programmes.
  • Ensure the management of bookings, insurance and permits for events within the portfolio.
  • Order, prepare and develop all necessary promotional and logistical materials, including customisation and orientation as required.
  • Coordinate with other staff for efficient and timely distribution of materials.
  • Analyse event outcomes and provide detailed post‑event reports to recommend improvements for future events and fundraising efforts.

Team Collaboration

  • Act as a positive ambassador for Parkinson Canada.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, proposing ideas for improvement.
  • Contribute to other projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with all Parkinson Canada colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Minimum two years of progressive fundraising experience with a proven track record in event management.
  • Experience with volunteer management (required).
  • Knowledge of key event management concepts such as maintenance of the critical path.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sponsorship.
  • Leadership, organisational, budgetary and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical and written skills.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite and online event fundraising software.
  • Demonstrated flexibility.
  • Client‑service orientation and proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel within Canada.
  • Valid G driver’s licence.
  • Comfortable driving a panel van or cube truck for events as required.
  • Capability to lift and carry 25‑50 pounds.
  • Pass a standard Criminal Record Check.
