Our Story: tkMomentum was inspired by Kevin, who has cerebral palsy. For over 10 years, Kevin worked in a sheltered program, receiving less than minimum wage and having minimal job skills training, making it difficult to transition into community employment. Kevin expressed to his brother Tyler that he felt trapped, leading to the creation of tkMomentum in 2017.

Job Description: The Employment Specialist helps individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment live fuller, more independent lives by securing gainful employment. Our clients include those with:

Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
Physical Disabilities and Injury Related Disabilities
Mental Health Barriers and History of Substance Abuse
Justice Involvement
Students with Disabilities and at-risk-youth
Individuals Experiencing Homelessness or Housing Insecurity

Responsibilities:

Develop rapport and understand clients’ needs, advocating on their behalf to employers and community support networks.
Draft, analyze, and update client service plans focused on achieving employment outcomes and independence.
Manage a caseload and maintain case records.
Assist clients in identifying strengths and aligning them with attainable employment options.
Help clients create resumes, apply to jobs, understand standard hiring processes, and instruct professional interview techniques.
Support clients in learning job tasks and maintaining professional relationships.
Assist clients in developing public transportation skills, professional communication, technical and soft skills, and necessary resources for employment.
Provide on and off site job coaching support.

Requirements:

1 year of work experience in a related field
Understanding of disabilities and their impact on independence and employment opportunities.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Ability to work under pressure and with individuals with high support needs.
Effective prioritization, organization, and time management.
Proficiency in various computer applications such as email, word processing, calendar management, basic data entry, and virtual meetings.

Travel and Differential Pay:

Travel is required within the designated region, with a driving radius based on client needs.
Reimbursement for mileage, with an expectation of the potential of driving up to 150 miles per week.
Additional 25% differential pay for scheduled on-site work between 6:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Interviews are conducted over Google Meet. Once booked through Calendly, tkMomentum will confirm the interview and that Google Meet event will be where the interview will take place.
