ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization committed to responding to crises in partnership with the church. Founded post-World War II, it has partnered with local churches and communities across 100 countries for over 80 years to build thriving families and communities. Our current focus includes humanitarian response, community resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.

This position is dependent on funding and may be modified or terminated based on resource availability.

POSITION SUMMARY

World Relief seeks an Employment Specialist to provide vital services and counseling to refugees and eligible persons seeking employment or career advancement. The role involves helping clients become self-sufficient through job placement, career counseling, and expanding employer networks.

This is a limited-term position funded until September 30, 2025, contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Employer Networking and Partnership:

Build relationships with employers to advocate for client hiring.

Research new job opportunities and vocational training options.

Collaborate with case managers on career pathways.

Client Support and Coordination:

Organize and facilitate job readiness classes and workshops.

Support clients with resumes, interview prep, and job applications.

Maintain communication through visits, calls, and office meetings.

Ensure client files comply with employment guidelines.

Document employment data weekly in the database.

Assist with employment forms, drug screenings, and documentation.

Provide transportation for interviews and initial employment days as needed.

Help clients develop job search skills and promote job retention and mobility.

Refer clients to additional programs and services.

Conduct initial employment orientation sessions.

Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Strong personal Christian faith

Commitment to World Relief’s mission and values

Desire to serve vulnerable communities through the church

Ability to affirm World Relief’s core beliefs and statement of faith

Effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment

Resilience under stress and crisis management skills

Cross-cultural experience preferred

Organized and detail-oriented

Excellent communication skills

Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic, Swahili, Farsi, Dari, Pashto) preferred

Minimum one year office experience

Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Up to 25% domestic travel
