The Brothers of Charity Services in Ireland provide a variety of services and supports to over 6,500 people with an intellectual disability or autism, and their families, throughout Counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Roscommon, Tipperary, Wexford and Waterford. The supports, which include residential, respite, day, host families, home based, andmultidisciplinary, are provided by nearly 6,000 staff with a variety of professional backgrounds and experience.

Employment Coach

The Brothers of Charity Service – Limerick Region, in conjunction with TUS and Employ Ability Limerick, have been awarded funding for the ‘Work Ability:
InclusivePathways to Employment Programme’. The programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) under Employment,Inclusion, Skills and Training Programme (EIST)  and the Department of Social Protection and is administered by Pobal.

The primarypurposeof the funding is to provide disabled people with the opportunity to gain and sustain employment/self-employment or to accesseducationand training to improve their employment prospects.

Our goal is to promoteinclusionand participation ineducationand employment for people with disabilities, in their local communities.

The Brothers of Charities ‘Team Work’ project will run until December 2028. The project will enable 80 individuals to complete a 26 week training programme in TUS followed by a 12 week work placement with an objective of gaining paid employment. The outcomes of this programme is to support participants to plan and develop realistic goals and exercise choice in their lives.

The Employment Coach will ensure that people with disabilities can explore what would represent sustainable employment and valued roles within their community. Knowledge and familiarity with the concept of sustainable employment and valued social roles will be necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a relevant third level qualification e.g. Bachelors ofEducation, Diploma or postgraduate qualification inEducationor Community.

Applications may also be considered from candidates holding other qualifications e.g. Nursing (RNID), Social Care, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Teaching, Youth and Community Studies, Psychology, Recruitment practices or Social Work, all to a degree level qualification.

A minimum of three years post qualification experience.

Hold a full clean driver’s licence and access to own car.

Goodcommunicationand networking skills.

Experience and competencies to support persons with intellectual disabilities in securing employment.

Working knowledge of HSE’s New Directions Standards for Day Services & the Person Centred planning process.

Certificate in Supported Employment.
