MINISTRY DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Elementary Team Leader
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Children’s Ministry
Serves at pleasure of the Rector
SUPERVISES: Volunteers
LABOR STATUS: Exempt (Salary)
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Children’s Ministry Director with the development and implementation of the vision, strategy, and tactical elements for all programs, activities, and educational aspects related to elementary aged children (5K-5th Grade).
Assist Children’s Ministry Director with planning, implementing, and leading instruction on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and other times including but not limited to Vacation Bible School, Boone Hall, Revive, and Alpha.
Help with staffing for other events such as Ridley, Alpha, and other special events.
Assist with volunteer recruitment, communications, and equipping of all elementary small group leaders.
Communicate with volunteers on a regular basis regarding scheduling.
Communicate and connect with the Youth Ministry Leader and Children’s Ministry Director regarding short-term and long-term plans for children as they transition from Children’s to Youth Ministry.
Attend Middle School Sunday nights and certain Youth Ministry Retreats, as agreed upon by the Children’s Ministry Director and Youth Ministry Leader.
Communicate any problems with students, parents, volunteers, or co-workers to the director.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and co-workers.
Maintain a physical environment to ensure the safety of all children in the elementary area.
Purchase materials for instruction, request purchases outside of normal classroom expenses, and follow proper financial procedures and budget guidelines.
Prepare all materials necessary for instruction.
Other duties as assigned by the Rector or as needed for successful execution of function.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field required.
Professional ministry experience preferred. Background with elementary age children necessary.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn Shelby Next and Planning Center.
Ability to work within budget.
Supervisory experience required.
