POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early Ed Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the assigned program in partnership with the collaborating school or park when the program is off-site and with the branch team when the program occurs on-site at a branch. At off-site programs, the Early Ed Coordinator serves as the primary contact to the school administration and faculty and helps establish the program at the assigned locations. The Early Ed Coordinator supports the staff in the daily supervision of program participants and provides guidance and or assistance to them in the planning, development, and implementation of program components and activities. The Early Ed Coordinator works with the Early Ed staff to guide the academic and social development of children, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. The Coordinator assists the staff in using a variety of resources, to introduce new skills throughout the execution of activities and assists the supervisor as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administers the day-to-day operation of the program, ensuring that all the program components and SOPs are adhered to.
Monitors and promotes program participant recruitment.
Prepares and monitors staff schedules at all times, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios. Makes arrangements for substitute staffing as needed.
Coordinates with the school’s administration, teachers, community partnerships, and/or branch team to successfully implement the program.
Evaluates the program quality, implementing necessary remedial steps when necessary.
Ensures attendance records, dismissal logs, and other required documents are properly completed, maintained, and filed.
Works in conjunction with the programs/initiatives of Membership/Facilities/Aquatics Directors when the program takes place at the branch or in shared spaces.
Ensures staff are planning and implementing age-appropriate learning experiences and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
Ensures that careful supervision and guidance are provided to Early Ed Aides who are assigned to Teachers. Ensures Aides who are under 18 years of age are never left alone to supervise or monitor youth participants and are receiving proper supervision.
Follows all procedures and standards as established by the law or the Y.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 19 years of age is required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Reliable transportation to and from assigned location is required
Mandatory trainings (such as orientation, child management, child abuse prevention, basic health & safety, etc. Complete list of mandatory trainings will be provided.) required within the first 2 months of hire
Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within first 30 days of hire
TB clearance and medical report from physician required within the first 2 weeks of employment
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and coach others to meet organizational goals
Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Minimum two years or more of documented related experience working with children ages 2-5 in a group setting required
College degree or post high school education in related fields preferred
6 months or more of documented supervisory experience preferred
Ability to train Early Ed Teachers, Early Ed Assistant Teachers, and Early Ed Aides
