Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) is a growing nonprofit organization that promotes independence of people who are deaf or hard of hearing through communication, connection and community supports. Our service area is the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Driver’s main responsibility is providing transportation for deaf and hard of hearing individuals with other disabilities to and from assigned locations throughout the Eastern Shore utilizing agency owned vehicles. Drivers are also responsible for keeping vehicles clean, inspecting vehicles for any damages as well as maintenance issues. Driver will also shuttle vehicles back and forth for repairs and maintenance. Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Shifts vary and may include split day/evenings and weekends. Covers for other drivers when necessary.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Three to five years of business driving. Must have valid driver’s license, a clean background check and driving record with no moving violations; must follow all safety guidelines per MVA; fluency in American Sign Language preferred or willingness to learn. Must be approved for coverage on agency insurance policy.
Position Classification: Full-time, non-exempt
Benefits: 100% employer contribution to medical & dental; low cost employee vision, life insurance, retirement with a match up to $1,000; 11 paid holidays; vacation & sick days, disability insurance, 80% employer contribution for dependent medical and 75% for dependent dental and much more. Minimum starting wage is $16.00 per hour. Position open until filled.
