At Wee Care Child Care Center, we’ve been nurturing and educating children since 1981. We are a faith-based, non-profit child care center committed to providing a safe, healthy, loving, and high-quality learning environment for every child in our care.
We’re looking for a responsible, dependable, energetic, and flexible Driver / After-School Counselor to join our school-age team.
This is more than a driving position! Our Driver / After-School Counselors help safely transport our students and then stay engaged with our K–5th grade students throughout the program. You should be comfortable leading activities, helping with homework, following lesson plans, participating in devotion, and building positive relationships with school-age children.
Position Highlights
- Safely transport students to and from Canopy Oaks Elementary School
- Follow all transportation and child safety procedures
- Ensure children are properly accounted for before, during, and after transportation
- Engage and interact with students in grades K–5
- Follow prepared lesson plans and help lead daily activities
- Lead or participate in daily devotion and support our faith-based program
- Assist students with homework
- Supervise indoor and outdoor activities
- Help serve snacks and assist with daily routines
- Maintain a safe, positive, and structured environment
- Communicate effectively with administration, coworkers, children, and families
- Work as part of a team and be willing to help where needed
Schedule
This is a part-time position, typically 20–30 hours per week, depending on availability and center needs.
We currently have morning and afternoon shifts available.
We are looking for someone with flexible availability, but we are flexible too! We are willing to work with the right person to create a schedule that works for both the employee and the needs of our program.
This could be a great fit for someone looking for consistent part-time hours Monday through Friday without working nights or weekends.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Enjoys working with school-age children in grades K–5
- Can be fun and engaging while still providing structure and supervision
- Is dependable and punctual
- Is flexible and willing to help where needed
- Is teachable and willing to learn
- Is comfortable helping with homework and leading planned activities
- Can participate in and lead age-appropriate devotion
- Works well as part of a team
- Supports our faith-based mission and commitment to providing a safe, healthy learning environment
- Communicates well and maintains a professional attitude
- Understands the responsibility involved in safely transporting children
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be able to pass all required background screenings
- CPR/First Aid certification required — if you are not currently certified, you must be willing to complete a CPR/First Aid course as soon as possible
- Employees who obtain CPR/First Aid certification after hire may be eligible for reimbursement after 90 days of employment
- Must have or be willing to complete the required 40-hour Florida Child Care Training within 90 days of employment
- Previous experience working with children is preferred
- Must be willing to learn and follow all required child care transportation, supervision, and safety procedures
