Position Summary
In collaboration with the Vice President of Development & Communications, the Donor Relations Officer is responsible for leading fundraising activities that support the emergency shelter and victim services in St. Joseph County.
This role will help implement and monitor a comprehensive development plan focused on increasing philanthropic support through individual and corporate donor engagement, strategic partnerships, and relationship cultivation.
Key Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Assist in short- and long-term strategic planning to achieve fundraising goals and meet annual revenue targets
Identify, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects (individuals, corporations, and foundations)
Steward relationships with new and existing donors in St. Joseph County
Support the YWCA Development team in donor solicitations and engagement
Assist in planning and executing special events and fundraising campaigns
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, nonprofits, service clubs, and local businesses
Research and identify private grant opportunities; assist with proposal writing as needed
Reporting Relationship
The Director of Development reports to the Vice President of Development & Communications. No supervisory responsibilities.
Required Experience
Qualifications and Skills
Proven track record in fundraising, donor cultivation, and relationship management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders
Self-starter with strong organizational skills and a strategic mindset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Experience working with community leaders, board members, and volunteers
Excellent attention to detail, writing, and presentation skills
Bachelors degree preferred, or equivalent experience in fundraising, development, nonprofit work, or related fields
