Overview
The Director,Resilienceat Global Communities is a member of the Food Economic & Climate Security (FECS) technical team. They will advance Global Communities’ work in the areas of sustainableresiliencebuilding with a focus on food security and climate adaptation across Global Communities technical groups. S/he will also support Global Communities’ Humanitarian Assistance group in designing and supportingresilience-building approaches in crisis and recovery responses that support Global Communities emerging approach in crisis-to-resilienceprogramming.
This position will develop and articulate Global Communities’ approaches in addressing household, community, and government capacity inresiliencebuilding across multiple technical groups. The Director will provide relevant technicalleadership, establishresiliencetechnical standards and provide relevant thoughtleadership/visibility. They will be responsible for Global Communities’ portfolio growth inresilienceprogramming and in strategically positioning the organization and leading capture efforts
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Lead the process of defining Global Communities organizational levelresiliencestrategy, and approaches across multiple technical areas ensuringresiliencebuilding and relevant climate adaptation are integrated throughout Global Communities’ global project portfolio.
Lead Global Communities’ portfolio growth ofresilienceprograms and refine/develop related technical approaches inresiliencebuilding and climate change adaptation and at the community, regional, and national levels.
Lead identification and crafting of strategic alliances/partnerships, project innovations, learning, and related research and thoughtleadershiprelated toresiliencebuilding and climate change adaptation.
Actively promotecollaborationand cooperation across departments, technical teams, and country teams supporting/implementing climate change and/orresilienceprograms in design, management, knowledge capture, and organizational learning.
Technical Excellence
Serve as Global Communities’ main technical resource forresiliencebuilding and relevant climate adaptation.
Lead the development and rollout of organizational-levelresilienceand climate adaptation strategies and related quality standards, and practices.
Provideleadershipin proposal design and technical support of relevant field programs during start-up, implementation, and knowledge capture.
Provide state-of-the-art technical assistance to project teams to plan, design, monitor, and evaluateresilienceactivities/approaches; conduct technical reviews of workplans and reports; and provide in-person technical field support.
Monitor technical performance forresiliencebuilding programs and work closely with project operations teams to ensure technical quality and impact.
Support the expansion of Global Communities’resiliencebuilding approaches through technical differentiator development, participation in working groups, and elevating Global Communities’ visibility within the donor and implementer communities.
Resource Development & Positioning
Develop and maintain Global Communities’Resiliencenew business growth strategy.
Lead the development and expansion of Global Communities’Resilienceprogram portfolio incollaborationwith theStrategic Growthand Partnership new business development unit, Program Operations, and the Humanitarian Assistance practice area.
