Position Summary
The Director of Risk Management and Operations provides leadership in risk mitigation, operational efficiency, and facility management across a diverse property portfolio. This role ensures full compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards while maintaining a safe, secure, and effective operational environment. Reporting to the Associate Executive Director & COO, the Director directly oversees the Building and Grounds Manager and Food Services Director, while working closely with the Benefits Manager to ensure organizational objectives are met.
This role is responsible for cultivating a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence within the risk management and operations team. Additionally, the Director serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, offering expert guidance on risk mitigation strategies and crisis management. Through proactive leadership and cross-departmental collaboration, the Director aligns risk and operational strategies with agency-wide goals.
Furthermore, this position leads internal safety training programs and strengthens the organization’s crisis preparedness, ensuring staff readiness to handle emergencies effectively.
Standard Hours: Minimum of 35 hour week, plus rotating on call responsibilities
Remote Work: Remote work available at the supervisor’s discretion.

MINIMUM Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Risk Management, Operations Management, Emergency Management, or a related field.
7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in risk management, operations, or facilities management, preferably in a nonprofit or multi-site environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, emergency response planning, fire codes, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety.
Experience managing large-scale property portfolios and developing operational systems.
Proven expertise in insurance management, contract negotiation, and vendor oversight.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
Valid Driver’s License as determined by the agency.
PREFERRED Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Risk Management, Operations Management, Emergency Management, or a related field.
Certification in Risk Management (e.g., ARM, CRM) or Facilities Management (e.g., FMP, CFM) preferred.
Experience in mission-driven, community-based organizations.
Knowledge of food service and DOH regulations.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Constantly operate a computer and other office equipment
Capable of physical activity, including but not limited to ground checks.
Able to safely operate an agency vehicle in accordance with NYS motor vehicle laws.
