Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.

The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.

We currently have a full-time opening for a Director of Quality, Compliance and Risk Management. The Director of Quality, Compliance and Risk Management has administrative responsibility for Quality, Compliance, Education, Medical Records and Risk Management. Position also serves as the Compliance Officer. This position is responsible for identifying, responding to, and resolving quality and risk issues for the organization and then monitoring outcomes on an ongoing basis. Additional duties for this position include:

Develops, implements, and oversees outcomes of quality assurance, performance improvement, risk management, and regulatory compliance strategies.

Creates annual quality and annual compliance plan for the entire organization and all programs and services.

Creates annual quality and compliance reports based on the plans.

Conducts quarterly QAPI meetings.

Staff liaison for Board’s Quality and Compliance Committee.

Reviews Chaps Survey, complaints, and incident reports as part of Quality and Compliance plan.

Ensures compliance regarding medical records, request for medical records, and chart audits.

Coordinates all audit activities with outside counsel.

Monitors CMS website for audit notification and results.

Identify and rank areas at risk and recommend strategies to address any issues.

Identify education needs at agency and oversee development and implementation of educational activities.

Responsible for all survey and accreditation activities and for successful IDPH annual IPU survey, IDPH triannual agency survey and Joint Commission/CHAP triannual survey.

Qualified candidates will have a Master’s degree in healthcare or related field (required), and management experience with hospice and/or palliative care experience preferred.

This is a hybrid position working in the office three(3) days a week and remote two (2) days a week.
