About the Minnesota Museum of American Art:
The Minnesota Museum of American Art (the M) is a St. Paul-based museum with a small, dedicated staff and a big mission: to inspire understanding of identities, experiences, and complex truths through American art. A primarilyvisual artsmuseum, the M’s exhibitions and programs are co-curated with M staff incollaborationwithdiversepartners, focusing on lived experiences and creativity of the many artists, cultures, and communities that have been historically, and continue to be, underrepresented by American museums.
This model has developed organically and has fostered strong multi-year partnerships that benefit both the museum and its partners, as well as the people they serve.
Goals that have united civic, philanthropic, and artistic leaders and the community in support of the M include:
Preserving and engaging the public with the M’s unique collection, which includes more than 5,000 artworks showcasing thediversevoices of American artists past and present with a focus on Minnesota artists.
Creating a newcollaborativeprogramming model suited to our times.
Revitalizing downtown St. Paul by connecting the Rice Park/River Centre area to the Lowertown/Mears Park area.
Over the past decade, the M and our partners have been on a journey that has:
Revived a largely dormant 130-year-old organization and adopted its mission to the contemporary needs of our communities.
Raised more than $30 million in private and public investment.
Completed Phase 1 construction on our new home in the historic Pioneer Endicott building.
Offered a series ofinnovativeprograms that showcase the M’s essential value as a major cultural anchor for St. Paul and the region.
Completed the construction project and opened the doors to the New Wing in October of 2024, tripling existing gallery space.

Position Summary:
The Minnesota Museum of American Art seeks adynamicandresults-orientedDirector of Operations and Organizational Culture to lead and oversee all aspects of organizational operations while championing a culture of equity,diversity, andinclusion. This unique role requires a strategic andcollaborativeleader with aproven track recordin operational excellence and a deep commitment to advancing social justice within the workplace and community.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management:
Strategic Planning& Execution:
Work with Executive Director to develop and implement short-term and long-term operational plans that align with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
Human Resources:
Lead all aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations.
Payroll:
Oversee all payroll activities.
Program Management:
Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of organizational programs and services, ensuring they meet the museum’s goals.
Technology & Infrastructure:
Manage and maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure, including IT systems, software, and equipment. Serve as point of contact for contracted IT services.
