POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Major and Planned Giving leads the Development Team during a time of rapid change and opportunity for public media. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies designed to engage and steward individual major donors and prospects in ways that encourage their substantial philanthropic investment in Twin Cities PBS.
The Director provides strategic, well-formulated, and proactive fundraising approaches and is responsible for leading the successful achievement of personal, team, and unit fundraising attainment goals as established annually and based on emerging priorities and organizational needs. The Director works closely with the Director of Membership to identify strategies to grow philanthropic support during the lifetime of viewers and individual supporters. In addition, this individual manages a portfolio of high net-worth individuals to raise support for the organization’s ambitious strategic plan initiatives, campaigns, capital needs, community-based work, and other important programmatic activities.
Compensation: $125,000 to $140,000 annually (depending on qualifications) in addition to company provided benefits.
HybridWork Environment:
Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Twin Cities Metro area and report to onsite office three days per week.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Donor Cultivation (60% time)
Incollaborationwith the ChiefAdvancementOfficer and CEO, develop and grow major individual giving programs that deepen and expand the existing donor base at all levels of giving, with special focus on cultivation and solicitation of major gifts ($10K+ minimum, with focus on gifts of $25K+) and planned gifts.
Manage a portfolio of 80+ new and existing major donors, personally securing $1.0M or more in cash, pledges or blended commitments of outright and planned gifts annually.
Communicate TPT’s vision, priorities, and goals in a compelling way to grow the portfolio and expand funding.
Identify, cultivate, and build a pipeline of new major donors and planned giving prospects, and lead stewardship efforts, meeting with donors and prospects on an ongoing basis.
Create tailored pitches based on deep understanding of our mid and major donors, including events and presentations and materials focused on TPT programming,strategic visionand impact and that support any current or future capital campaigns.
Oversee planned giving solicitations and agreements working with legal and planned giving experts.
TeamLeadership(35% time)
Lead, mentor, coach and evaluate a talented development team, and ensure the team maintains best practices and an understanding of the fundraising landscape including local, national, and international marketplace trends.
As an active member of the Department Leaders Team, providestrategic visionfor organization to engage our audiences and donors and connect them to our mission.
Develop overarching strategies for growth and elevation of philanthropic success, working closely with fundraisers assigned to those units.
Assist in the successful completion of department and team goals, which may exceed personal attainment goals annually.
Work with colleagues on portfolio management and coordinated donor efforts for deeper donor engagement, while analyzing data and progress to continuously improve our major gift strategy and meet robust revenue goals.
