St. Stephen the First Martyr is seeking a Director of Hispanic Ministry. The Director of Hispanic Ministry will uphold the mission of St. Stephen the First Martyr Catholic Church to bring the faithful to Christ. The goal of the Director of Hispanic Ministry is to develop programs that integrate these cultures into the existing church community. Working within the Hispanic Community, the Director will provide a bridge to the parish and the diocese in communicating the needs of this community.

The Director of Hispanic Ministry reports directly to the Pastor and collaborates as needed with other staff members in the office.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate the church ministries that are related to the Hispanic community, ensuring all delegated tasks are completed on time and in a satisfactory manner.

Coordinate and create weekly parish Spanish bulletin page.

Deliver announcements at the weekly Spanish Masses coordinating with the parish announcements and any announcement specifically for the Hispanic Community.

Coordinate with the Hispanic Community and Parish staff any special events for Hispanic Community – advertise and invite.

Coordinate with the clergy for Spanish Sacramental rites, Masses, and celebrations.

Along with the Faith Formation team and clergy, develop programs/classes to meet catechetical and sacramental needs of the Hispanic Community.

Assist and direct the Hispanic parishioners requiring adult Sacraments to the Director of Faith Formation.

Serve as point of contact for families with children 0-7 years old seeking Baptism; coordinating preparation and scheduling with the overall church calendar.

Serve as point of contact for families seeking to arrange funerals, weddings, Quinceañeras, presentations, etc., and coordinate preparation and scheduling with the overall church calendar.

Recruit, train, and schedule ministers for all masses throughout the year (i.e., Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Servers, etc.).

Prepare the annual budget and submit it to the business manager for all events and groups overseen by the office of the Director of Hispanic Ministry, such as Prayer Group, San Andres, Feast of Lady Guadalupe, Feast of the Divine Mercy, Way of the Cross, May – Month of Mary, and the Annual Parish Festival.

Serve as an advocate for the Hispanic community with churchleadershipand the wider St. Stephen’s Community and facilitatecommunicationas needed.

Coordinate the projects for the parish community such as the Christmas Giving Tree, the Annual Parish Festival, etc.

Occasionally coordinate food sale fundraisers for the benefit of the church.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in ReligiousEducation, Pastoral Ministry, theology, or a similar field is required.

An active practicing Catholic in full communion with the church.

Catechetical/Parish Ministry experience with Hispanic Communities.

Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and work within the parish data system.

Ability to communicate via email, text messaging, and other social media.

Employment is contingent upon the applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.

Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
