POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Girl Scout Programming is responsible for ensuring that Girl Scout programs are accessible, inclusive, and tailored to the needs of diverse communities across Connecticut, including urban and rural areas. This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans to engage a diverse demographic across Connecticut, including underrepresented areas, while fostering partnerships and promoting equitable access to Girl Scout programs for all girls.

The Director will provide overall leadership and direction for the design, development, and delivery of council-wide programming. The Director supervises the team responsible for developing and delivering program resources that address the needs and interests of Girl Scout members. These programs will assist in attracting new members to the organization and increase the retention of girls and adult members. At all times, the Director will portray a positive image that is representative of Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s policies and procedures and promote customer service to internal/external stakeholders.

MAJOR

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Design and implement innovative programming that meets the needs of our membership goals, and such programming should occur throughout the state. Work with the leadership team to develop the council’s goals, objectives, and initiatives, along with implementation plans for council program delivery. Supervise and evaluate a core team of staff and volunteers to develop programming in alignment with annual GSUSA programming priorities and the GSUSA National Program Portfolio including Program Pillars of Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, Outdoors, and STE(a)
M. Ensure staff and program volunteers have received the proper training and resources to guarantee inclusive practices in all programs. Support staff in understanding and addressing the unique needs of girls from different backgrounds. Develops and administers an annual operating budget for the department. Provides overall supervision and direction for the council’s general program. Works closely with the communications team to develop and implement a council-wide marketing plan to promote program opportunities to the internal and external community.

Collaborate closely with membership and community outreach teams to establish relationships with volunteers, members, and council program partners to encourage participation. Collaborate with the product sales team to develop council programs that increase awareness, interest, and participation in the product sales programs. Embraces and enhances a culture that values diversity and ensures that staff, girls, and volunteer efforts reflect the council’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and accessibility for various demographics. Use data-driven insights to make informed adjustments to programming and outreach strategies. Maintain and ensure compliance with a risk management plan for all programming operations and all safety standards and licensing requirements. Oversees implementation and reporting for grant-funded initiatives. Keeps abreast of trends and issues in the community affecting girls and council services and GSUSA’s changes, trends, and requirements related to the program department and council.

Oversees the collection of all program revenue and ensures that all delinquent accounts are settled. Supports and promotes all aspects of Girl Scouting for the council by serving as a spokesperson for the movement and a voice on girls’ issues. Works cooperatively with other departments to support council efforts. Management oversight of staff training programs. Identifies training for staff to meet the evolving needs of internal/external stakeholders.

Assists team in managing conflict with staff, volunteers, girls, parents, and external customers. Promotes the value of Girl Scouts to families in all demographic groups, emphasizing the benefits of participation. Carry out other duties as assigned.
