Job Title: Director of Development and Community Engagement

Compensation: $54,000 base salary, plus commission
Mission:
The Sunnyside Foundation, Inc. was formed to provide education and community outreach to the public for knowledge about health insurance for seniors, new technology, including telehealth, for seniors that cannot drive or are in-mobile, and end of life education.
Position Overview:
The Director of Development and Community Engagement at The Sunnyside Foundation oversees and implements all fundraising efforts to advance the foundations mission and vision, while also fostering relationships through both social media and in-person networking. This individual will work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies to increase revenue through philanthropy. The Director will foster strong relationships with donors, oversee fundraising events, and ensure that financial and networking goals are met to enhance the foundations programs, mission, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Strategy Development & Execution:
Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the foundations mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Develop annual fundraising plans, setting clear goals, objectives, and timelines for various campaigns and events.
Identify, cultivate, and engage a diverse donor base, including local businesses, and foundations.
2. Major Gifts & Donor Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, prospects, and key stakeholders.
Oversee the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects.
Ensure effective communication with donors and track progress toward fundraising goals.
3. Fundraising Events & Campaigns:
Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events, including galas, auctions, donor luncheons, dinners and annual giving campaigns.
Work closely with volunteers and committees to ensure events are successful in meeting or exceeding financial targets.
Develop creative and compelling messaging for campaigns that inspire donor participation and giving.
4. Annual Giving & Capital Campaigns:
Oversee and manage the foundation’s annual giving program, ensuring broad participation
Support and lead capital campaigns, ensuring effective donor engagement and follow-up.
Collaborate with the key industry members to develop case statements and funding priorities.
5. Donor Stewardship & Recognition:
Implement a donor stewardship program to ensure donors feel valued and informed about the impact of their giving.
Create recognition opportunities for donors at various levels and ensure appropriate acknowledgment of gifts.
Maintain a donor database to track gifts, communications, and engagement efforts.
6. Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead a team of fundraising staff, volunteers, and external partners to meet fundraising goals.
Collaborate closely with the foundations leadership to build a culture of philanthropy throughout the community.
Provide regular reports to the foundation’s leadership on progress towards fundraising goals.
Help maintain all social media platforms to promote the foundation.
7. Budget & Financial Management:
Develop and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and maximizing ROI on fundraising initiatives.
With the help of the foundations Director of Operations, monitor financial results, track progress against goals, and adjust strategies as needed.
8. Marketing & Communications:
Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop fundraising materials and promotional content.
Leverage social media, newsletters, and other channels to engage and inspire potential donors.
Qualifications:
Education: Preferred bachelor’s degree or higher in nonprofit management, business administration, marketing, or a related field.
Experience: Preferred minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fundraising or development, preferably within a nonprofit setting.
Skills & Competencies:
Proven track record of successful fundraising, including major gifts, annual campaigns, and events.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse constituents.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Deep understanding of the foundations values and the ability to represent the foundation’s mission in all fundraising efforts.
