As our Director of Family Services, you’ll champion the wellbeing of children and families in our Head Start program by building transformative partnerships, ensuring access to critical resources, and leading a team of dedicated Family Advocates. In this strategic role, you’ll oversee enrollment, family engagement systems, and community collaborations—all while using data (Child Plus, ERSEA) to drive program excellence and advocate for systemic change.

Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Develops and manages a system for Family Advocates to build collaborative partnerships with parents. Works with Family Advocates to ensure that parents have access to services and resources responsive to their interests and goals, and follows up to ensure referrals meet their expectations and circumstances.
Monitors child files, information entered into Child Plus, quality of work with each Advocate, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulations.
Oversees the process for identifying family goals, strengths, necessary services and supports. Tracks progress in achieving family goals.
Ensures recruitment plans are created and implemented to meet full enrollment; manages active waitlists efficiently. Analyzes enrollment data to inform planning and address absenteeism when attendance falls below requirements.
Promotes positive child and family outcomes by analyzing enrollment and absenteeism data; shares pertinent information with the Leadership Team to coordinate services.
Works with the Executive Director to involve center policy council members, including regular communication, monitoring attendance, encouraging volunteers, and attending meetings.
Tracks ERSEA and family partnership efforts and outcomes, analyzes data, and makes program development recommendations.
Collaborates on strategies for ongoing monitoring and annual self-assessment success.
Supports family advocates in implementing new parenting curricula.
Participates in community planning and advocacy to improve service delivery to children and families. Attends local, state, and regional initiatives to represent the program, develop professionally, and build agency relationships.
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth, participates in abuse risk management training, reports suspicious behaviors, and follows mandated reporting requirements.
Works effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Family Services, Social Work, or related field. Knowledge of Head Start and State Child Care Licensing regulations preferred.
Ability to develop positive relationships with staff, parents, and community agencies.
Knowledge of community-based organizations preferred.
Willingness to work flexible hours to meet program needs. Participates in required professional development activities.
Reliable transportation required.
YMCA Team Leader certification required; if not certified, must obtain within 12-24 months.
Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, and internet navigation.
Maintain required health and safety certifications within 6 months of hire.
