Job Description

OJCF seeks an experienced, relationship-driven Director of Donor Engagement to lead

the Foundation’s fundholder stewardship, donor education, charitable giving advising,

and donor community-building efforts. This exempt position is responsible for designing

and implementing a comprehensive donor engagement strategy that supports

fundholders throughout their philanthropic journey, from onboarding and active

grantmaking to legacy and succession planning.

The Director of Donor Engagement serves as a trusted advisor to current and

prospective donors while creating meaningful opportunities for learning, connection, and

impact. This position supervises the Fundholder Services Coordinator and works

collaboratively across the organization to advance donor satisfaction, giving activity, and

community engagement. Responsibilities are informed by OJCF’s stewardship and

donor-centered priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement OJCF’s overall donor engagement, stewardship, and

fundholder experience strategy.

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate an annual donor education program, including

curriculum development, workshops, webinars, seminars, site visits, and other

learning opportunities for donors, prospective donors, and professional advisors.

  • Manage a portfolio of donor-advised, endowed, and supporting foundation funds,

serving as a trusted advisor to donors and families.

  • Design and oversee donor lifecycle engagement, including onboarding,

stewardship, fund replenishment, donor recognition, succession planning, and

legacy giving opportunities.

  • Coordinate all aspects of educational and stewardship events, including content

development, speaker recruitment, marketing, registration, logistics, budgeting,

and participant engagement.

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies that promote

donor engagement, educational programming, giving opportunities, and donor

impact.

  • Create presentations, educational materials, donor communications, newsletters,

impact stories, stewardship reports, and other donor-facing content.

  • Build meaningful relationships with fundholders through meetings, stewardship

plans, and proactive outreach designed to deepen donor engagement and

satisfaction.

  • Identify opportunities for additional giving, fund growth, charitable planning,

family engagement, and community impact.

  • Supervise the Fundholder Services Coordinator and establish systems and

procedures that support excellent donor service and stewardship.

  • Oversee stewardship tracking, donor engagement reporting, and the effective

use of CRM systems and donor data to inform relationship management and

strategic decision-making.

  • Manage supporting foundation and grantmaking fund relationships and assist

with special initiatives and giving programs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across advancement, finance, communications, and

operations to advance OJCF’s donor engagement and community-building goals.

  • Represent OJCF at donor, community, and professional events.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in charitable giving, fundraising, donor

relations, community engagement, financial services, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated success building and managing donor, client, or constituent

relationships.

  • Experience designing and leading educational programs, events, or community

engagement initiatives.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management abilities.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and customer-service

orientation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/database systems.
  • Knowledge of charitable giving vehicles, donor-advised funds, endowment giving,

and/or planned giving is preferred.

A successful candidate will enjoy working on a small team and be capable of navigating

complex, shifting priorities. A commitment to OJCF’s mission and values is essential.

Knowledge of Jewish practices or experience within the Jewish community is welcomed

but not required.

Compensation And Benefits

This is an exempt position paying $80,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on

experience. The position is full‑time with the possibility of hybrid work. Some evening or

weekend work may be required. Benefits currently include Health, Dental, Vision, PTO,

and a retirement plan.
