Position Overview

The Director of Development (DoD) is responsible for advancing the strategic goals of the Dental Foundation of Oregon (DFO), aligning efforts with the Oregon Dental Association (ODA), and leading the organization toward its mission. The DoD serves as the primary fundraiser, organizational leader, and public representative, reporting to both the ODA Executive Director and DFO Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

·        Execute the DFO’s mission, strategy, and annual goals.

·        Support the Board’s governance responsibilities.

·        Ensure alignment and collaboration with ODA and other partners.

Fundraising & Development

·        Lead all fundraising efforts, including annual campaigns, grants, and events (e.g., golf tournament, Wall of Wine, car raffle).

·        Expand donor base beyond the dental community.

·        Build relationships with corporate sponsors, major donors, and foundations.

·        Manage fundraising records and grant reporting.

Communications & Marketing

·        Promote the DFO’s mission and programs to key stakeholders and the public.

·        Develop marketing materials, annual reports, and media releases.

·        Oversee DFO website and communication channels.

·        Lead DFO presence at the Oregon Dental Conference and other events.

·        Produce monthly donor and stakeholder communications.

Program Oversight

·        Manage DFO’s role in the Tooth Taxi program, including fundraising and reporting.

·        Collaborating with Tooth Taxi team to develop community support.

·        Represent DFO at events (e.g., ODA meetings, Give Kids a Smile Day).

·        Support the development of new charitable and educational programs.

Qualifications

·        5+ years in nonprofit leadership (budget $500K–$2M) with strong fundraising experience.

·        Proven visionary leadership with success in organizational growth.

·        Expertise in diversified fundraising strategies.

·        Strong financial and budget management skills.

·        Experience engaging with boards, staff, volunteers, and corporate partners.

·        Passion for mission-driven work, preferably in health-related fields.
