About Us: Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center (HSNHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable healthcare services to over 10,000 patients annually in underserved communities. We are in the process of designing and raising funds for a $55 million state-of-the-art, new healthcare facility that will significantly enhance our ability to serve our community. Position Summary: The Director of Development will play a critical leadership role in managing and driving the success of our capital campaign to raise $12 million for the new healthcare facility. This individual will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies for major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and community engagement. The Director will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, campaign consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure the campaign’s goals are met on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Campaign Leadership & Strategy Development:
o Lead the design, planning, and execution of the $12M capital campaign, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
o Develop and implement fundraising strategies for major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and community engagement to secure necessary campaign funds.
o Manage the capital campaign budget, track fundraising progress, and provide regular reports to the CEO.
o Create compelling case materials, campaign messaging, and donor engagement strategies that effectively communicate the impact of the new healthcare facility.
2. Major Gift Fundraising:
o Identify, cultivate, and steward major gift prospects, including individual donors, foundations, and corporations, to build lasting relationships and secure significant contributions.
o Work directly with top-tier donors and prospective donors to solicit gifts, ensuring alignment with the campaign’s needs and the donor’s philanthropic interests.
o Plan and execute high-touch stewardship activities, including donor recognition events, private meetings, and personalized communications.
3. Board and Leadership Engagement:
o Collaborate with the Board of Directors, and senior leadership to build a strong fundraising network and engage them in the campaign.
o Support the Board in identifying and cultivating potential major gift donors and assist with fundraising solicitations and events.
o Provide leadership and guidance to fundraising staff, volunteers, and external consultants, ensuring all parties are aligned and contributing effectively to the campaign.
4. Donor Communications & Stewardship:
o Develop donor recognition programs and stewardship strategies to ensure ongoing engagement and appreciation for all levels of campaign donors.
o Oversee the creation of donor communications, including campaign updates, newsletters, social media engagement, and annual reports.
o Ensure proper tracking and acknowledgment of all contributions in line with best practices and IRS guidelines.
5. Campaign Management:
o Oversee day-to-day operations of the capital campaign, including scheduling meetings, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
o Manage relationships with campaign consultants, vendors, and external partners to ensure smooth execution of campaign activities.
o Ensure that all campaign materials are produced and distributed on time, and that they effectively reflect the campaign’s goals and values.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, healthcare administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
· At least 7-10 years of experience in fundraising, with a strong focus on major gifts and capital campaigns, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit setting.
· Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale capital campaigns.
· Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies and techniques, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support and engage donors at all levels.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Collaborative, solution-oriented, and able to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
· Passion for healthcare access and commitment to serving underserved populations.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to travel locally and nationally as needed for donor meetings, events, and campaign-related activities.
· Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate donor schedules and events.
Compensation: The Director of Development will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
