Summary:
Breast Connect, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients by empowering them to become their own best advocates through relevant information, resources and community, seeks a dynamic part-time Director of Development with nonprofit, donor development and fundraising experience.
Background:
Breast Connect is a 10-yr old nonprofit organization located in Knoxville TN. Breastconnect.org, “#forsurvivorsbysurvivors” provides supportive information and tools for women navigating their breast cancer journey. Information includes general content on breast cancer, surgery tips, questions to ask their physician, and everything in-between to help newly diagnosed women improve their quality of life and achieve better outcomes. We provide free chemotherapy and radiation care packages and work with local cancer support organizations to send flowers and mastectomy kits to women undergoing surgery in the East TN area. We currently have 2300 members in our private Facebook group where members ask questions and provide experiential insight that educates and informs, advocates and empowers women. These members represent women who are survivors (short and long-time), newly diagnosed, and those living with metastatic breast cancer. Members also include caregivers and the medical community. We hold up to 6 social and educational events a year
We have an active board of directors, one part-time administrative assistant and a contracted bookkeeper. Director of Development will be supervised by the Executive Director. We are currently moving to the Neon One CRM platform.
The Director of Development candidate must reside in the Knoxville TN area.
Job Requirements:
Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop a comprehensive mission driven, fundraising plan using creative strategies and goals.
Implement the development plan to meet the annual revenue goals
Monitor and analyze fundraising data and consistently report results to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Steward and maintain relationships with current donors
Generate new ideas that increase revenue
In collaboration with the Executive Director, assist with two established annual fundraisers
In collaboration with the Executive Director, plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization
Identify and cultivate major gift prospects as well as prospective new corporate or foundation donors through annual giving, campaigns, or sponsorships.
Create a communication plan that includes marketing and engagement materials, and promote campaigns via social media platforms
Identify and apply for applicable grants
Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop budgets and monitor and forecast revenue and expenses
Skills and Experience – Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a relevant field in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or related field
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in marketing, sales, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events. Experience in planned giving and digital fundraising is a plus
Strategic and creative thinking with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
Experience with Neon One or other similar CRM software (Bloomerang, Salesforce, or DonorPerfect) as well as experience with donor databases and online fundraising platforms with the ability to analyze and interpret data. Additionally, experience with Adobe, Microsoft, WordPress, Survey Monkey, Canva, Mailchimp or similar software. Proficiency in most social media platforms.
Strong leadership and management skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
Compensation
Salary and overall compensation will be commensurate with the experience and background of the successful candidate. Salary $35,000 – $40,000 for 20 hours per week. This is a remote position, which could include a small amount of travel and no health insurance.
