Overview

Director of Data & Evaluation Jobs in Queens, NY at Community Mediation Services, Inc.

Job Summary

Community Mediation Services, Inc. (CMS) is seeking a Director of Data & Evaluation to lead the development of an agency-wide data, performance measurement, and evaluation function.

This is an opportunity for a strong data and evaluation professional to build and shape a growing organizational function. The Director will help determine what CMS should measure, how information should be collected and managed, how program outcomes and impact should be evaluated, and how data can be used to strengthen programs and organizational decision-making.

Working closely with executive and program leadership, the Director will assess current data practices, establish consistent standards and performance measures, develop dashboards and reporting tools, and strengthen CMS’s capacity to evaluate and communicate program outcomes.

The Director will also play a lead role in assessing CMS’s current data systems and defining requirements for future technology. If CMS selects or develops a new data platform, this position will help lead system selection, design, and implementation to ensure that technology supports the agency’s programmatic and evaluation needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an agency-wide data, performance measurement, and evaluation strategy.
  • Assess existing data collection practices, systems, reporting requirements, and performance measures across CMS programs.
  • Establish standardized data definitions, collection protocols, performance indicators, and data-quality standards.
  • Work with program leadership to identify meaningful outputs, outcomes, KPIs, and measures of program impact.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, reports, and other tools for monitoring organizational and program performance.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, opportunities, and areas for program improvement.
  • Develop logic models, evaluation frameworks, surveys, and other tools for measuring program effectiveness.
  • Assess current databases and technology and translate organizational needs into requirements for future data systems.
  • Participate in or lead the data and programmatic aspects of selecting and implementing a new data platform.
  • Build staff capacity to collect, understand, and effectively use data.
  • Collaborate with Resource Development and program leadership to provide data and outcome information for proposals, funder reports, renewals, and organizational impact reporting.
  • Supervise and develop Data & Evaluation staff.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive and program leadership.

Experience, Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, program evaluation, public administration, public policy, social sciences, information systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, program evaluation, performance measurement, data systems, or related work.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical approaches to data collection, measurement, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, reports, evaluation tools, or performance measurement systems.
  • Strong analytical, project-management, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple programs and departments while providing leadership around data standards and expectations.
  • Experience in human services, nonprofit organizations, government-funded programs, or similar environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience with database implementation, system selection, data visualization tools, or organizational data infrastructure is a plus.
