Come Lead Where Mission Meets Mountains
La Puente is seeking a grounded and community-driven leader to serve as our Director of Crisis Prevention, based in the heart of Colorado’s San Luis Valley. Not just a job, it’s a chance to lead deeply human, systems-oriented work at the intersection of poverty, housing instability, and hope.
As Director, you’ll guide a dedicated team that administers housing assistance, energy relief, and employment support, often preventing homelessness before it starts. You’ll manage grants, support AmeriCorps members and staff, and serve as a critical bridge between programs that support people in crisis across the region.
Why Alamosa? Why La Puente?
The San Luis Valley is a high-desert mountain basin surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan ranges. Life here is slower, the stars are brighter, and the people are deeply rooted. You’ll be part of a community that shows up for each other, whether over coffee at a local shop or in a client meeting that changes someone’s life.
At La Puente, we don’t believe in charity for charity’s sake. We believe in dignity, relationship, and action. From our emergency shelter and food banks to youth programs and advocacy, we’ve spent 40+ years building services with and for our community. You’ll be joining a nonprofit that’s local, dedicated, and deeply respected, where leadership isn’t about power, it’s about people.
What You’ll Do
Lead day-to-day operations of the Crisis Prevention department in Alamosa
Supervise and mentor staff and AmeriCorps members
Oversee 10+ grants and ensure compliance, spend-down, and impact

Ready to live and lead in a rural mountain town
