Position Summary

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations leads strategy and execution for philanthropic support from corporations, private foundations, and select institutional partners. This role focuses on mission-aligned philanthropy rather than transactional or compliance-driven funding, and works closely with Foundation and hospital leadership to identify initiatives that are both fundable and feasible.

The position plays an important role in diversifying revenue, strengthening long-term partnerships, and advancing priority programs across VHC Health.

Reports to: Foundation President

Key Responsibilities –

Strategy and Portfolio Development

  • Develop and manage a diversified portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects aligned with VHC Health priorities.
  • Identify opportunities that align funder interests with organizational readiness and impact.
  • Shape fundable initiatives in collaboration with clinical and operational leaders.

Proposal Development and Stewardship

  • Prepare and submit competitive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and sponsorship requests.
  • Manage reporting, stewardship, and relationship maintenance for active funders.
  • Track deadlines, outcomes, and renewals using Foundation systems.
  • Achieve annual fundraising goals set by the Foundation President.

Relationship Management

  • Build long-term relationships with corporate leaders and foundation program officers.
  • Represent VHC Health in funder meetings and partnership discussions.
  • Coordinate with development colleagues to align corporate and individual strategies.

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months

  • Established a prioritized and well-qualified portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Secured $750,000–$1.5M+ in philanthropic commitments.
  • Built several multi-year or repeat funding relationships.
  • Improved clarity and consistency around grant strategy and internal coordination.
  • Maintained timely reporting and strong stewardship practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in corporate and foundation fundraising, preferably in healthcare or complex nonprofit settings.
  • 5+ years grant-writing experience with demonstrated success securing six-figure+ grants.
  • Strong writing, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to assess organizational readiness and funder fit.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
