As Director of Compliance, you will lead the design and execution of an enterprise-wide compliance framework that supports organizational excellence, continuous improvement, privacy protection, and operational integrity. Job Summary
The Director of Compliance is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining COA’s compliance program and compliance framework. This role leads internal audit and monitoring activities, oversees privacy and security compliance, drives policy management and quality improvement initiatives, and partners with leaders across the organization to strengthen accountability, performance, and risk management. The Director also manages the compliance team and plays a key role in advancing innovative solutions, including AI-enabled process improvements and SharePoint-based compliance resources.
Responsibilities
Compliance Strategy & Program Leadership
- Lead and operationalize COA’s compliance program across the organization.
- Develop and maintain the annual compliance work plan, identifying key risk areas and monitoring priorities.
- Drive implementation of the Green Book Standards for Internal Control as COA’s quality management framework.
- Design and maintain a centralized compliance hub in SharePoint as a single source of truth for compliance resources.
- Partner with leaders across departments to support quality management, compliance performance, and continuous improvement.
- Support executive leadership and Board reporting on compliance activities and organizational risk.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and technology to improve compliance processes and governance.
Policy Management
- Establish and oversee a formal policy review and governance process.
- Manage policy lifecycle activities, including version control, stakeholder review, and approvals.
- Oversee automated workflows and AI-assisted policy management processes.
- Ensure organizational policies remain aligned with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Auditing, Monitoring & Risk Management
- Oversee internal audits and monitoring activities to assess regulatory and operational compliance.
- Oversee external audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.
- Analyze audit findings, identify trends, and recommend system-wide improvements.
- Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and oversee Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
Privacy, Security & Quality Improvement
- Oversee HIPAA privacy and security compliance initiatives.
- Manage HITRUST-related assessment and certification activities.
- Serve as a member of the Privacy and Security Committee.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing compliance team.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Set priorities, drive execution, and ensure accountability for results.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar certification preferred.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum five years of healthcare compliance, administration, or related experience.
- Minimum seven years of leadership experience managing teams and projects.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and CMS requirements.
- Experience leading audits, investigations, RCAs, and CAP development.
- Working knowledge of NCQA, HITRUST, and quality management frameworks.
- Experience in implementing internal control frameworks such as Green Book or COSO preferred.
- Familiarity with SharePoint administration, compliance technology platforms, and compliance analytics tools.
- Familiarity applying AI tools to process automation and workflow improvement preferred.
- Skilled in project management methodologies such as Agile or PMBOK.
- Experience in Medicaid, aging services, managed care, healthcare, or nonprofit organizations preferred.
