Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites candidates for our Director for the Center of Service. The Director for the Center for Service identifies, coordinates and promotes community engagement and service-learning opportunities in the greater community and across the Missouri Western State University campus. The Director is a member of the Student Affairs leadership team and contributes to the campus-wide implementation of student programming.
Essential Duties
Enhances the student experience by providing leadership education, civic engagement and service-learning opportunities.
Meets with community agencies by way of site visits, phone calls, and networking meetings to establish relationships and promote the Center for Service to secure community service opportunities for students.
Recruits and onboards student volunteers and serve as instructor for UNV201 and UNV301.
Plans and organizes campus-wide service opportunities for students, faculty and staff.
Serves as a point of contact for community partners, internal and external stakeholders, for service and outreach related opportunities.
Works with various units to gather university data that demonstrates qualitative and quantitative assessment for community service projects, including but not limited to the number of engaged students and hours of community service completed.
In coordination with the Marketing and Communications Office, maintains the Center’s social media accounts to promote the Center for Service and its students.
Develops and maintains relationships with community partners hiring Federal Work Study students through outreach and site visits. Administers and maintains records of the Community Service student employment to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of workings of university structure, policies and procedures
Effective communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively
Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies across the University and the community
Ability to operate independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy while adhering to tight deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Relevant experience in volunteerism and/or volunteer management.
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
Service or civic leadership within a higher education setting.
Experience working with nonprofit organizations, particularly in volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement.
Physical Demands
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
